1967
May 18 - As part of the Edgehill Urban Renewal Project the Nashville Housing Authority acquired the property at 1004 Grand Avenue where DeFord was living as a tenant. This was one of four times DeFord was relocated by the Housing Authority.

June 1 - The Nashville Housing Authority acquired the property at 1053 Edgehill Avenue where DeFord was living as a tenant.

June - DeFord played at the Marketplace, a club on West End Avenue in Nashville.

1968
May 8 - Judge George Hay died in Virginia Beach, VA.

June 14 - The Nashvile Housing Authority relocated DeFord into apartment #307 at the I.W. Gernert Homes public housing high rise building at the corner of 12th and Edgehill.

1969
January 19 - The Nashville Housing Authority acquired title to the property at 1145-12th Avenue, South where DeFord's shoe shine stand was located. He was paying $12 per month rent.

1970
As a part of Edgehill Urban Renewal Project, the Nashville Housing Authority forced DeFord to close his shoe shine shop at 1145-12th Avenue, South.
