DeFord Bailey: A Black Star in Early Country Music

The official biography of DeFord Bailey, written by David Morton with assistance from Charles Wolfe, was published by the University of Tennessee Press in 1991. The paperback edition, published in 1993, is still in print and available at a very low price.

Copies can be purchased from a local book seller, Amazon.com, or the University of Tennessee Press. The phone number for the University of Chicago Press, which handles sales for the University of Tennessee Press, is 800-621-2736. Copies were made available to participants of the Carthage Tennessee event honoring DeFord for only $10 each, plus postage. We understand this special low price is also available to the general public as well.
